Another blog from the guide interviews of Mimmy, finding out exactly what it’s really like working with the hottest new educational platform around. This time, Natasha, a graphic designer from near London, tells Chris about her experiences of working with Mimmy adventure, and what why she remained one of the longest standing guides right from their first few adventures when it all began.
Question: What is unique about working with Mimmy as compared to regular companies?
To me, working with kids seems more like fun than a job, since it’s easy and free. I can work from home so long as I have my iPad or phone. It’s so flexible and 10 minute lessons flow easily.

Question: What do kids get out of your adventures?
They learn communication skills, especially in English, through repetition of the way I talk to them, through spelling, and also through the drawing game, where they learn how to draw animals.
Question: What do you get out of it?
I enjoy seeing the kids’ diverse imaginations, which are very unique through the drawings. That gives me pride to see what they have achieved.
Question: Do you think working with Mimmy makes you more engrossed in your drawing hobby?
Yes, this adventure is keeping me in touch with my artistic side since, at the moment, I am job hunting for a graphics job, and this keeps me motivated since I am still practicing my skills.
Question: So you mean, it gives you a reason to draw and keep up?
Yes, without it there would be no reason to draw everyday.
Question: What made you interested in working with Mimmy Adventure in the first place?
I love teaching and sharing knowledge, especially about my hobby. My one-year teaching experience in Japan was great, and Mimmy Adventure now offers me the chance to reconnect with Japanese kids again. That’s fulfilling and thrilling too.

Question: Does Mimmy's experience meet your expectations?
Yes, surprisingly, I was used to doing 1-hour classes and was wondering if 10 minutes was enough, only to discover that it’s plenty of time to teach and have lots of fun.
Question: What is in store for the kids joining your adventures now and in the future?
They have a successful future in their English class, and if they travel abroad, they will have easy communication. They will have their drawing skills sharpened and more kids will get interested in drawing.
Question: What impact do you believe your adventures will have on these children's futures?
They open more possibilities for creativity for kids, especially when they draw from their own imagination, which shows they are thinking outside the box.

Question: What is it about art and design that makes you so interested in it?
I enjoy it so much. I am so much into the details of how posters and packaging are done. I am a consumer of well packaged stuff only because I love the packaging. This makes me enjoy design, and it’s so interesting in a very special way.
Question: Do you think kids enjoy your design adventures, and have they shown an interest in them?
Yes. I have seen them want us to repeat a certain drawing we have done in the past, which shows interest. Also, those that felt like they didn’t impress with their drawings get pride with their end results, which makes them so happy with themselves. The fact that they have bought iPads for the adventures is a great show of their growing interest in design.
Question: Is it correct to say that you feel fulfilled while shaping and educating them?
It’s rewarding, and I am so happy to feel I am educating them and sharing with them my hobby. This can pave the way for their great future in art and design, of which I will be so proud of them.

Question: Did anything put you off when you first applied for Mimmy Adventure?
Nothing as such, but I wasn’t familiar with the company since you seemed new. After a little research, especially on Instagram and with a few friends, I came to realize that you are worth giving a try.
Question: Lately, we have been planning to expand Mimmy from Japan to Taiwan, the South Korean market, and eventually to Europe. What do you think if we include the UK kids?
This is a great idea. I feel parents all over the world, especially where English isn’t the first language, would embrace it so well due to the English learning that is involved. In general, all parents would want it for their kids since there are dozens of learning activities in Mimmy Adventure.
Question: What would you like the kids to know about your country—the UK?
It’s so interesting for the kids to learn that the cultures, languages, and animals are different in both countries. Most importantly, they have already learned the magic of time differences in both countries, which is very interesting, and they can point out the UK or Japan on the map.

Question: Is there any country that you have learned about as an adult but were unaware of its existence as a kid?
I am fortunate to have traveled a lot while I was a kid, but I feel the experience could have been better now if I had taken my language classes seriously, like Spanish classes. I didn’t know about the American culture of tipping and that you have to do it. In some places of Europe, you can’t directly drink the tap water and there is unique toilet etiquette. This is unique and interesting stuff.
Question: What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of applying to work with Mimmy Adventure as an adventure guide?
Do it. The work is enjoyable, and the company is understanding and helpful whenever you are stuck. I am going to refer my friends too, so that they can get the opportunity to share their hobbies with kids.
